Update to format. This will now be blue vinyl in a gatefold sleeve 20th Anniversary reissue of this unique blend of electronica and stadium rock from the late Jóhann Jóhannsson and his cohorts. First time on vinyl The legendary, highly acclaimed first album from Apparat Organ Quartet will be released on vinyl for the first time to mark its 20th anniversary this year. The self-titled Apparat Organ Quartet was originally released on CD, on Icelandic label Thule Musik and got rave reviews from around the world and with their unique blend of electronica, experimental music and stadium rock, they became a music festival favourite, performing on both sides of the Atlantic and Japan. With a stage full of old combo organs, synths and tangled cables, painstakingly playing every note by hand, Apparat Organ Quartet puts on show that you wont easily forget: A wall of distorted organ sounds and drums, topped with romantic synth melodies and mechanical voices. Apparat Organ Quartets line-up included the late composer Jóhann Jóhannsson who also produced the record, along with current members Hörður Bragason, Arnar Geir Ómarsson, Sighvatur Ómar Kristinsson and Úlfur Eldjárn. They released their second album, Pólýfónía, in 2010. Apparat Organ Quartet will also be giving a special live performance, in their hometown of Reykjavík, on the 4th of November, where they will perform the entire record. “Here was a band as innovative and meticulous as Sigur Ros but who sounded nothing like it. Instead of rock-band instrumentation, the Apparat Organ Quartet delivered what its name promised: four keyboardists (plus a drummer). When the group performed at the festival last year, it simply seemed like a good idea. This year it had grown into a phenomenal force, playing soul-stirringly portentous mechanical music, equal parts progressive rock and horror film soundtrack, reminiscent of older acts like Kraftwerk and Goblin and newer ones like Stereolab and Trans Am.” – Neil Strauss, The New York Times. “20 years on, this legendary blend of electronica & stadium rock remains a beautiful testament to the brilliant & versatile mind of Johann Johansson & his cohorts” – Resident Music Tracks>> Side A 1.Rómantika 2.Stereo Rock & Roll 3.The Anguish of Space-Time 4.Cruise Control 5.Ondula Nova Side B 6.Global Capital 7.Seremónia 8.Charlie Tango #2 9.Sofðu litla vél
