Following on from the conclusion of O Emperor and their critically lauded final album Jason, which won the Choice Music Prize 2018, front man Paul Savage embarked on new solo material which embraced a more low-fi aesthetic of bedroom recording. The first fruits of this new venture was a self produced EP (Whozyerman? EP1) in 2020 and debut LP Blink released February 2022. Blink is a quietly contemplative affair, unbound by convention and joyous in its idiosyncrasies. It’s a stroll through influences such as Animal Collective, Brian Eno and Lemon Jelly, rooted in Savage’s elegant perspectives of a world on pause. -the Irish Times (4/5 stars)
