The original 1977 series of the BBC documentary exploring the secret war fought behind the scenes of WWII by scientists and engineers as they strove to produce new technology. Due to the increasingly mechanised nature of warfare, the battle to develop ever more destructive weapons was arguably as important to the outcome of the war as military tactics.
