Digipak, Special Edition, Bonus Track(S) Influenced by Albert King, Albert Collins, Freddie King, Mississippi MacDonald, has honed and shaped his guitar and vocal performances over a number of dues paying years to great effect in shaping his own sound. MacDonald’s fluid fingers, a singular voice and songwriting talent mark him as the new voice of British soul-blues. The profile of MacDonald has seen a sharp rise thanks to regular UK touring, heavily streamed digital singles, BBC Radio 2 session with Cerys Mathews Blues Show, performing at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, hitting no.1 on various radio charts throughout 2022/2023. Release of the original Do Right,Say Right album in 2021 garnered this praise : “What’s great about this album is how old fashionedly/righteously/unexpectedly bluesy it is”. MOJO (Blues album of the month) “Mississippi MacDonald represents the next generation of great guitarists, who hail from the UK. … wholly authentic, he’s earned the right to claim the name.” LIVING BLUES “You can hear influences of OV Wright and Little Johnny Taylor. Mississippi MacDonald is a great singer, songwriter and guitar player who knows his stuff. BLUES BLAST APM Records is pleased to present this re-release of DO RIGHT, SAY RIGHT as a Special Edition with five bonus tracks: Two tracks are previously unreleased; the slow blues cover of ZZ Hill’s ‘Everybody Knows About My Good Thing’, and the live cut of MacDonald’s own ‘Talking A Little Rain’ showcasing his fine band in action in 2023. Three tracks are recent collaborations MacDonald has been successfully cultivating. Another ZZ Hill song (penned by Denise La Salle) ‘Stepping In’’ features Freddie King’s brother and band leader Benny Turner, recorded at Ecko Studios in Memphis. This is one of the successful digital singles of 2023 given it’s first physical release. So too MacDonald’s song ‘Devil’s Chain’ featuring Scottish Americana singer Kerri Watt, inspired by what June Carter said to Johnny Cash referring to his demons “Every dollar you earn is another link in the Devil’s Chain”. Plus the first time release in any form of the collaboration with US singer and harmonica player The Reverend Shawn Amos of MacDonald’s song ‘Ballad Of Pat Hare’. About the infamous guitar player with Big Walter Horton, Rosco Gordon, James Cotton and for a long spell in Muddy Waters Band, who wrote a song about ‘killing his woman’ and then did just that!
