A popular contemporary artist creates the soundtrack for a film by an Academy Award-winning director.“Max Richter – Original Soundtrack to Hamnet”:Decca will release the original soundtrack for Hamnet, the latest film from Chloé Zhao, director of Nomadland, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Director.The film is based on the best-selling novel Hamnet by Northern Irish author Maggie O’Farrell, winner of numerous literary awards, including the British Women’s Novel Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction.Set in a small village in 16th-century England, the film tells the moving story of love and loss that inspired Shakespeare’s timeless classic Hamlet.Produced by Steven Spielberg and Sam Mendes, the film stars Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal.The music is by Max Richter, a renowned post-classical artist, producer, composer, and film composer.The album also includes an orchestral version of “On the Nature of Daylight,” which was included on Richter’s second solo album, The Blue Notebooks, released in 2004.Richter has previously composed the music for numerous soundtracks, including the TV drama The Leftovers, the film Mary Queen of Scots, and the TV drama Invasion.
