Richard Pryor co-writes, directs and stars in this biographical comedy drama. After setting himself on fire while high on cocaine, stand-up comedian Jo Jo Dancer (Pryor) lies comatose in a hospital bed. As his spirit observes his body, he recalls his childhood and all of the obstacles he overcame to become a comedian. However, success came hand in hand with drug use and destructive behaviour. If he regains consciousness, will he finally be able to break the cycle? The cast also includes Paula Kelly, Art Evans and Billy Eckstine.
