Instantly recognisable by sound for their aspirational, observationaland near-spiritual upbeat and aspirational electro-inspired indie, andby sight for their mod-ish terrace gang wardrobe, the formerly riotous,now reformed 1980s / 1990s Liverpool five-piece return as wised-upstatesmen of pop and present the release of their long-awaited fifthalbum, ‘Let The Music (Take Control)’.
Despite appearing to be forever present as a force in music thanks torepeated cover versions and timely re-issues of their greatest hitsingles, plus decades of well-publicised activism, The Farm’s lastalbum was 1994’s US-only release of ‘Hullabaloo’.
A band whipped up into a frenzy of deserved hype following therelease of their 1991 No.1 debut album, ‘Spartacus’, which broughtera-defining singles ‘All Together Now’ and ‘Groovy Train’ into theworld, they quickly followed up in 1992 with their second album, ‘LoveSee No Colour’.
Constructed by the band’s original ‘heyday’ line-up of Peter Hooton(vocals), Steve Grimes (guitar / keys), Keith Mullin (guitar) CarlHunter (bass) and Roy Boulter (drums), the fruits of The Farm’s newstudio sessions were first tasted with BBC Radio 2-playlisted single,‘Feel The Love’, released in Summer 2023.
Sensing new creativemomentum within themselves and a hunger amongst fans for more ofthe same, The Farm connected with leading indie label Modern Skyand completed a further nine tracks to create ‘Let The Music (TakeControl)’, their first album in over three decades.
