In early 1985, Wayne Hussey, former guitarist for Dead Or Alive, joined The Sisters of Mercy and contributed both 12-string guitar and songwriting to the band’s debut album First and Last and Always, which was released on 11 March 1985.The album was followed by the departure of guitarist Gary Marx during the tour, after difficulties with vocalist Andrew Eldritch.The band completed the tour as a trio, playing their final gig in London on 18 June.One of the most acclaimed concerts took place in Oslo on 16 May and was broadcast live across Scandinavia.A few weeks earlier, the band had also played on the BBC’s Old Grey Whistle Test.
