Brazilian poet, lyricist, essayist and playwright, Vinícius de Moraes (1913-1980) became a seminal fi gure in modern Brazilian music and literature. He penned hundreds of songs with his longtime collaborator, António Carlos Jobim (1927- 1994). Their compositions became true classics and have transcended the bossa nova genre, as they continue to be played and recorded by countless musicians throughout the world.
