Against the backdrop of planetary chaos unprecedented in our time, Restive Nation persevered and landed at the release of their self-titled debut album. They have now put together this unique collection of songs and accompanying videos to usher in the next chapter in their ever-evolving journey. What we get is a melting pot of influences and ideas that come together magically to present a musical and lyrical multiversity of styles and atmospheres. Entertaining, thought provoking, intriguing and 5th dimensional would be appropriate descriptions for this collection. The album is divided up into 3 subsections – ’Insufficient Information’ leads us into tracks with an Electronic / Industrial feel, ’Bedtime Stories’ ushers in tales and characters from the Twilight Zone and ’Dyatlov Pass’ leads us into more metal-tinged landscapes. Overall, this mosaic of sound and textures bring something for all tastes. Restive Nation have not only survived, they’ve excelled with this debut album.
