Long overdue, Swagger is being re-issued on Limited Edition Green vinyl and a Deluxe Double CD with bonus tracks, covers, live versions and remixes. Fresh from the success of Hombres, which reached the UK top 10 album chart and went to Number 1 in Scotland, Gun continue their comeback with this revitalised edition of Swagger. Originally released in 1994, the album featured their hit single ‘Word Up’, a cover of the Cameo’s pop song that they transformed into their own tongue-in-cheek hard rock banger which charted all over Europe and went to the top 10 in the UK. This Deluxe Double CD package contains a 24 page booklet with brand new liner notes written by Joel McIver featuring an interview with Dante (vocals) and Giuliani ‘Jools’ Gizzi (guitar), plus archive photos from the original singles. Disc 1 features the original tracklist plus bonus tracks including covers of ‘Are You Gonna Go My Way’ (Lenny Kravitz), Killing In The Name (Rage Against The Machine) and Panic (The Smiths). Disc 2 features a selection of live tracks, special edits and remixes spanning the band’s entire career, opening with live recordings from Glasgow’s Barrowlands in 2022 and an array of chopped up and remixed hits. “We always did 12” remixes, even on Taking On The World and Gallus, because clubs loved playing them… we loved going into the studio and breaking the song apart and putting in new parts” (Giuliani ‘Jools’ Gizzi). The third album of a long lasting career, Swagger represents the band at just one of their many high points. Gun are constantly ready to reinvent themselves and their approach to making music, always thriving under pressure, and always ready to release new material with as much swagger as ever.
