Nowadays it is almost forgotten that jazz recordings were also released on 45-rpm singles in the last century, not least to fill the popular jukeboxes.
This double CD brings together for the first time all the singles with which tenor saxophonist Ike Quebec celebrated an overwhelming comeback on Blue Note Records from 1959 onwards.
With them, Quebec continued his successes of the mid-forties, when he earned the reputation at Blue Note of being the “King of Jukebox Hits”.
The recordings were mastered by Kevin Gray directly from Rudy Van Gelder’s original tapes.
The double CD in a jewel case contains a 36-page booklet with unpublished photos by Francis Wolff and a detailed essay by Loren Schoenberg.
