2027 first-time 12" reissue in full original West End Records house disco sleeve, featuring never before bonus track straight from the tape, 140g vinyl, mastered by Simon Francis
WOW! Another Nick Martinelli & David Todd sureshot that still sounds like the future, whilst simultaneously sounding so unmistakably 1982. A very tough track that just oozes 80s style and dazzling brilliance.
As an added jaw-dropping bonus, we've added the never before released (and no doubt seriously under-heard) "TV Mix", sourced from the original tapes. It's a bright, beautiful instrumental take that doesn't get as weird as the more famous dub version (also included here)
Famously sampled by 33 1/3 Queen on their Nu Groove banger "Searchin'" in 1990, the vocal side is ushered in by an ominous sounding synth; indeed, dancefloor damage is flagged up early here. Debbie's breathless, heartbreaking yet sassy vocals are complemented by big bad eighties electro bass and stellar synth keys work throughout. This is just deeply funky early 80s boogie. It'll work your crowd into a frenzy.
Flip over for the strutting instrumental mix, a wigged out, acidic dub which is just soaring, swoonsome bliss. Arguably, it surpasses the A-Side. When selecting which version to next detonate at your local dance, truly, the choice is yours. You can't miss.
It's impossible to overstate the importance of West End, not just in disco but in hip-hop and house as well, thanks to a roster that drew from soul, R&B, gospel, and funk. Led by co-founder Mel Cheren, a formidable NYC figure, West End Records helped introduce the twelve-inch single and fully fuelled the sound of both the Paradise Garage and Studio 54.
This bonafide underground dance classic has been carefully remastered by Be With regular Simon Francis and presented in the original West End Records house disco sleeve for the very first time. Cut at the prestigious Abbey Road Studios, we have made sure nothing is lost in the cut whilst the records have been pressed to the highest possible standard at the always stellar Record Industry in Holland. The artwork restoration has taken place here at Be With HQ and has that drop-dead gorgeous cover artwork popping like new. Buy on sight!
