The 23 songs on Dolly Parton - Diamonds & Rhinestones - The Greatest Hits Collection are from 1971 - 2020 and give a perfect overview of Dolly Parton's great career. The liner notes to this anthology are by Robert K. Oermann, with whom the singer had collaborated on her 2020 autobiography "Songteller".
"Dolly Parton - Diamonds & Rhinestones: The Greatest Hits Collection" is a label-spanning collection of songs. Gathered here - for the first time on one album - are tracks originally released on Dolly Records, RCA Victor or Columbia. Not to mention the track "When Life Is Good Again," released as a digital single on Butterfly Records, which was written and recorded in 2020. The song was Dolly's reaction to the outbreak of the pandemic and was meant to give hope to her fans in crisis.
Highlights on "Diamonds & Rhinestones" include Dolly's duets with Kenny Rogers "Islands in the Stream" and "Real Love" or country divas Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" from "Honky Tonk Angels". Also "Faith", Dolly's refreshingly unusual collaboration with the Swedish electropop dance duo Galantis feat. Mr. Probz, can be heard here and of course legendary movie songs are not missing. So, of course, the tracklist includes "9 To 5" from the 1980 film "Why Actually ... Let's Not Kill the Boss", "Red Shoes" from "Dumplin'," 2018 and "Tennessee Homesick Blues" "The Highflyer," 1984.
