Across its eleven tracks, Jayne Pomplas's new album "This is How The World
Ends" traces a coming-of-age arc shaped by reflection, restlessness and
transformation. Pomplas describes the record as “an encapsulation of what it feels
like to grow up,” written during a period of intense personal reassessment and
creative urgency. What emerges is a body of work that moves between intimate folk
confession, cinematic arrangements and raw traditional performance.
“This album is an encapsulation of what it feels like to grow up, at least for me.
These songs and tunes are vignettes of different experiences I’ve had that have
shaped me thus far. And the order of the album has been carefully curated to
highlight the circle of life."
"I turned 27 last year, and I just woke up one day and realised I’d been playing it safe
for years and years, and not really doing the things I wanted to do with my life. A bit
of an existential crisis I guess. So I went into overdrive and decided that I was gonna
do everything all at once, and this album is the expression of that feeling.”
Jayne Pomplas is a fiddle player, vocalist, and composer creating original work at
the intersection of Irish traditional music, folk song, and contemporary experimental
sound. Known for her virtuosic playing and distinctive voice, she delivers
performances that are both intimate and electrifying. Her work blends folk lyricism
with cinematic textures and a fearless creative instinct, pushing the boundaries of
modern folk. Her recording work honours tradition while moving confidently into
new sonic territory through improvisation, rich arrangements, and emotionally
resonant songwriting
