So Many Lovely Things: Live in Brecon captures an extraordinary 1995 performance by pianist Kenny Barron alongside bassist Ray Drummond and legendary drummer Ben Riley, recorded live at the Brecon Jazz Festival in Wales. Drawn from the Jordi Suñol Archives, this previously unreleased concert documents Barron’s celebrated trio at a moment of remarkable musical intuition, balancing lyrical elegance, rhythmic fire, and deep collective interplay.
Presented as a deluxe limited edition 180-gram gatefold 2LP set, the album was produced by Zev Feldman and Jordi Suñol from the original tapes, with mixing and restoration by Marc Doutrepont (EQuuS) and mastering by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab. The release also includes extensive liner notes and detailed tune annotations by acclaimed jazz journalist and historian Ted Panken.
Recorded on August 12, 1995 at the Brycheiniog Theatre during the trio’s European tour, the performance unfolds across ten expansive interpretations ranging from standards and ballads to modern jazz classics. Barron’s flowing harmonic language, Drummond’s melodic bass work, and Riley’s masterful swing combine in a deeply communicative live recording that highlights the trio’s exceptional chemistry and spontaneity.
