Brazilian guitarist Laurindo Almeida was one of the key figures responsible for introducing Brazilian rhythms into the American jazz scene.
A pioneering musician who moved effortlessly between classical music and jazz, Almeida became the first artist to win Grammy Awards in both categories.
Across a career spanning more than five decades, he recorded over one hundred albums and helped shape the early international development of bossa nova and Brazilian jazz.
Acapulco '22 presents two complete 1962 recording sessions featuring Almeida in the company of outstanding West Coast jazz musicians including Bob Cooper, Jimmy Rowles, Don Fagerquist and Shelly Manne.
The program blends Brazilian standards with popular melodies of the era, interpreted through Almeida’s distinctive guitar style and elegant arrangements.
The result is a vibrant meeting point between Brazilian rhythms and sophisticated jazz playing, highlighting the musical dialogue that defined the early years of the bossa nova movement.

In the unlikely event you receive an item from us that is either defective or faulty, please let us know so we can arrange collection of the item and dispatch a replacement as soon as possible. If goods are being returned due to being defective or an error on our behalf, we will refund delivery charges resulting from the return of the original order. Non-defective items:
