Marc Bolan & T-Rex - Television Guru (The Best Of The Broadcast Years) Marc Bolan & T-Rex
Pickup currently unavailable at Dawson Street
Marc Bolan remains one of the defining figures of British popular music and one of the most charismatic performers
of the rock era. After beginning his career in the mid-1960s, he formed Tyrannosaurus Rex with percussionist Steve
Peregrin Took in 1967, initially embracing an acoustic, psychedelic folk sound. By the dawn of the 1970s, the group
had evolved into the electric powerhouse T. Rex, with Bolan's irresistible blend of infectious hooks, flamboyant style
and magnetic stage presence helping to ignite the glam rock movement. A succession of chart-topping singles and
classic albums established him as one of the decade's most influential artists.
Throughout the 1970s, Bolan continually reinvented his music while retaining the unmistakable sound that made T.
Rex an international phenomenon. From anthems such as 'Hot Love', 'Get It On', 'Telegram Sam', 'Metal Guru' and
'Children of the Revolution' to his later recordings, his songwriting combined rock and roll, pop, blues and boogie into
a style that was uniquely his own. His influence extended far beyond his lifetime, inspiring generations of musicians
and ensuring his place among the true icons of British rock.
This collection brings together some of the finest television performances by Marc Bolan and T. Rex, originally
broadcast between 1971 and 1977 across a variety of celebrated programmes and television specials. Captured at
the height of their fame, these appearances showcase Bolan's effortless charisma, unforgettable songs and
commanding stage presence, preserving the excitement that made every television performance an event. Together
they provide a remarkable record of one of Britain's greatest live performers during the most celebrated years of his
career.
