Katzengold is a collection of songs that never strayed far from their first spark.
The distance between demo and final version was sometimes measured in hours rather than months.
Sometimes as little as two. Many of the acoustic guitar tracks that first captured the songs became the very takes that made the album. Some of the scratch vocals survived too, carrying a spontaneity that couldn’t be recreated once the red light had been on for too long.
The record began with a stack of lyrics from Kris Ragnstam, a songwriter who has been part of the independent music infrastructure since the early 2000s.
Over the years, his work has taken him from a Japanese Billboard #1 placement to extensive touring alongside artists such as Debbie Harry and Mumford & Sons, among many others. For Katzengold, those years of experience are distilled into songs that feel remarkably immediate and unforced.
Recorded as a trio, the album embraces the chemistry of three people in a room responding to each other in real time. Missed notes, uneven phrasing, and happy accidents were often left untouched, not out of necessity, but because they added character, tension, and flavor.
There was no attempt to chase perfection. The goal was to capture the moment when a song still feels alive and slightly unpredictable. What remains is a record that values instinct over refinement and presence over precision.
True to that spirit, Katzengold was recorded and mixed through an analog workflow, with the process anchored by what might be the oldest PC still operating in the business. The result is warm, immediate, and unvarnished.
A document of songs caught close to their creation, before time and overthinking could smooth away their rough, gold shine.

Refund and Returns Policy
If the product is in its original condition and unopened, we will accept its return within fourteen days from the day you received the item. You will receive a full refund to the value of the item* *Applies to Online orders only
Refund and Returns Policy Faulty or defective items:
In the unlikely event you receive an item from us that is either defective or faulty, please let us know so we can arrange collection of the item and dispatch a replacement as soon as possible. Please email us at info@towerrecords.ie to arrange the return of a defective item. If goods are being returned due to being defective or an error on our behalf, we will refund delivery charges resulting from the return of the original order. Non-defective items:
If, for some reason, a customer wishes to return an item that is not defective, we will accept the item and issue a refund within 14 days from the day you received the item. If, for some reason, a customer wishes to return an item that is not defective, your item must be unused and in the same “as new” condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging. To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase. Please wrap the item and the package securely and send them to the address below. We do not accept liability for goods which are returned in faulty packaging.
